Jan 30, 2016 8:30am Kissing Bridge (North) Stan Martin Western New York Young Adult Patroller Event presented by Craig Larson (Eastern Division Young Adult Patroller Director).  All Western New York Young Adult Patrollers are invited to meet Craig and spend the day improving their ski/ride, toboggan, and OEC skills during his fun filled presentation.

Course cost: $15.00.  This course introduces fundamental principles of avalanche hazard, safety and rescue. It is designed for interested ski patrollers, members of mountain search and rescue groups, and others who operate/recreate in areas that lack appreciable avalanche terrain. It qualifies as an NSP senior patroller elective, but it does not meet Level 1 avalanche course standards and does not qualify as a prerequisite for enrollment in Level 2 avalanche courses.

Student application 

MTR Mountain Travel & Rescue I (MTR 1) Mar 12-13, 2016 8:30am Allegany State Park Bob Cross Course cost: $15.00.  The MTR 1 course provides students with the knowledge and skills to travel and work in reasonable safety and comfort in the outdoor environment.  To assist a search and/or rescue teams, including possible operations with them. Field practice and skills includes  navigation, travel, survival skills, clothing, Incident Command and basic search and rescue exercises, along with an overnight campout, to test skills and gain confidence.
